Our first water project started in Kenya
In December 2010, three months prior to our first selling season, we traveled to Kenya with our friends from Untilthen.org to launch our original water project. After landing in Nairobi, we drove six hours across the famous Rift Valley, to a rural farming area near Kisumu to dig out very first well. Since that humble start, we have completed 36 wells in rural communities around the area of Kisumu and Kitale. Clean drinking water is a crucial foundation for these communities to lift themselves out of cycles of illness and poverty.
What water can do
Reduce illness
Clean water can drastically lower the percentage of water-related diseases, particularly in children.
Stop poverty
With access to clean water time can be spent growing food, education, finding a job which lowers poverty rates and spurs economic growth.
Gender equality
Women and girls typically in-charge of gathering water and access to clean water leave more time females for school.
Our partner UntilThen.org
